natural sea sponge
Our sea sponges are natural, sustainably harvested bath accessories, prized for their soft texture and durability in the shower. Typically sourced from the warm, shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico off Florida’s coast, these regions offer ideal conditions for sponge growth. Harvesters carefully cut the sponges at the base, allowing them to regrow and continue supporting the marine ecosystem, making them a renewable resource. Biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and free from synthetic materials, yellow sea sponges are an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic sponges or loofahs. Their porous structure creates a rich lather, while natural enzymes help resist mold, keeping them hygienic and long-lasting.
Sea sponges are natural products, so their sizes can vary slightly due to their organic growth patterns. When labeled as 4.5" to 5", it means that individual sponges will generally fall within this range, though each one may differ slightly in shape and exact dimensions. This variation is typical of natural sponges and adds to their unique, one-of-a-kind quality.
Care Instructions:
Rinse Thoroughly: After each use, rinse the sponge thoroughly with clean, warm water to remove soap and debris.
Squeeze Gently: Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing or twisting to prevent damage.
Air Dry: Place the sponge in a well-ventilated area to air dry completely. Avoid leaving it in the shower to prevent mold growth.
Avoid Harsh Products: Do not use bleach, boiling water, or harsh chemicals, as these can degrade the sponge.
These steps will keep your sponge clean and extend its lifespan!
